The San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) owns a stormwater drainage system known as the Bear Branch Reservoir System. The System is part of the Upper Panther Branch Stormwater Management Plan and includes a 60-acre detention reservoir. The reservoir is impounded by an earthen dam containing a concrete-lined, trapezoidal service spillway located in the center of a concrete auxiliary spillway. Stormwater runoff drains to the reservoir and approximately eight miles of conveyance channels known as Bear Branch, Alden Branch, and Upper Panther Branch. The Lake Conroe Division operates and maintains the System by conducting regular inspections, performing preventative and corrective maintenance activities, invasive species management, oversight of mowing services, and clearing, de-snagging, and desilting of conveyance channels. These services are provided under contract with five Woodlands Municipal Utility Districts that drain into the system.
