Description

Lift Station No. 24 is a wastewater lift station owned and operated by the San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) in The Woodlands. The Lift Station No. 24 site currently includes two wet well lift stations (Lift Station No. 24A installed in 1999; Lift Station No. 24B installed in 2004), and a control/generator building. During Hurricane Harvey in 2017, the entire site flooded with a water depth of approximately 4 feet. In 2024, Federal Community Project funds become available to allow for reconfiguration of the site to mitigate the effects of future flooding.  The proposed improvements include the construction of a new control/generator building/platform at a higher elevation, and the consolidation of the two individual wet well lift stations into a single lift station.

SJRA received federal funding for the project through the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and proceeded into Preliminary Engineering with a combination of federal and local funds to evaluate the lift station’s condition and identify alternatives for flood hardening and consolidation.
